Next Generation Internet Consultation Results Show People’s Concern About Their Data

The results of the consultation on the Next Generation Internet initiative (NGI), held between 14 November 2016 and 9 January 2017, show that people’s main concern is to keep control of their own data and ensure that it remains private. Contributors are also concerned about data being stored in a small number of proprietary platforms. Younger participants attached great importance to diversity, pluralism and the notion of a level playing field.

NGI is an EU initiative addressing technological opportunities that arise from advances identified by research. It aims to ensure that the Internet of the future be more open, intelligent, trusted and interoperable.
