The EU Agency for Network and Information Security (ENISA) has published its Annual Incidents report for 2015. The report gives an in-depth analysis of security incidents that caused severe outages in 2015, as well as analyses the causes of such incidents. The key findings of the report are that mobile internet is the most affected service, with 44% of all reported incidents; that the main cause of incidents are system failures (70% of all reported instances); human errors affect more user connections per incident. The report shows that malicious actions are, on average, not focused on causing disruptions – only 2.5% of incidents were caused by malicious actions. Finally, new services, such as TV broadcasting, SMS/MMS, public email, IPTV and VOIP, were the most affected among the new ones that started being collected.
