Global Information Technology Report 2016 Published

World_econ_forumThe World Economic Forum has published the Global Information Technology Report 2016. This year’s report was centred on the theme “Innovation in the Digital Economy”, under which special attention was devoted to the role of ICT in driving innovation. The report evaluates network readiness of 139 economies with the help of the Network Readiness Index (NRI). The NRI primarily assesses how well countries are equipped to benefit from emerging technologies and the opportunities presented by the digital revolution. The report’s executive summary highlights several key findings: the list of highest-scoring countries has not changed since last year, with high-income Southeast Asian and European countries, as well as the USA, in the top 10. The biggest leaps up the ranking were Kuwait, Lebanon and South Africa, having advanced 10 places each. In Europe, the biggest mover-upwards was Italy, advancing 10 places to the 40th position.
