European Commission Releases European Digital Progress Report 2016

European CommissionThe European Commission has released a report that shows what progress the Member States have made in developing a digital economy. The report focuses on aspects such as digital skills, use of Internet, and digital public services. The main achievements identified are faster and mobile internet, a wider range of online services provided by public administrations, and more online shopping. The report also includes a set of country reports, with quantitative data and policy insights. For the first time the report compares the performance of the EU with that of its international competitors. Despite the shortage of international data, the report finds that the best-achieving countries in the EU are also those on the forefront of the global stage.
