New Edition of the Digital Economy & Society Index

EC logoThe European Commission has published the 2016 edition of the Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI). DESI is an online tool that measures the progress of EU Member States towards a digital economy and society. The main dimensions taken into account include the deployment of broadband infrastructure, digital skills, use of internet, and the digitisation of businesses and public services. While highlighting improvements, the 2016 edition reveals that the pace of progress is slowing down. Action is therefore required to remove the obstacles, both at EU and national level, preventing Member States from taking full advantage of the opportunities that are available. The top performing countries are Denmark, the Netherlands, Sweden and Finland.
