European Parliament Adopts Digital Single Market Report

epThe European Parliament has adopted an ‘own initiative’ report, “Towards a Digital Single Market Act”. The report describes the Parliament’s views on how to build a Digital Single Market. It covers a wide range of topics from skills and ecommerce to platforms and digital content. In it, the Parliament details its vision of a digitally-enabled European economy and society, which maximizes the opportunities available for both business and consumers. It also asks that the European Commission guarantee the active participation of EU citizens. This report will feed into the 16 initiatives the Commission is committed to delivering by the end of 2016. The European Parliament will co-legislate with the EU Council of Ministers on the legislative proposals made to boost the Digital Single Market.
